IIt's Herring Time

At the end of March, the Sac Roe Herring move into Sitkka Sound to spawn. This brings a number of predators to the area - Fisherman, Sea Lions and Humpback Whales.

Here a Humpback engages in a 'Tail Throw' - a dramatic display where it throws it's back out of the water and slaps it against the surfrace.

The reason it does this is unknown, but it's quite impressive.
